In the English Literature 8 subject, students will learn about the different functions and genres of text. In this course, students will also learn about different literary devices such as similes and metaphors. Students will also learn about different strategies to read and study. Students will also practice writing their own paragraphs and poems.
English Literature 9
The English Literature 9 course is an expansion on the English Literature 8 course, further elaborating on the functions of text, literary devices, and strategies to read and study. Students will also expand on writing paragraphs, particularly analyzing pieces of literature and writing literary paragraphs.

English Literature 11
The English Literature 11 course has many subtopics that expand on the previous English Literature course. The Creative Writing 11 subtopic is the main focus in this course with students learning to write essays. Another focus in this course is Composition 11 where students learn to appreciate pieces of writing.
English Literature 12
The English Literature 12 course or the English First Peoples 12 course is required for graduation from high school. In particular, the English Studies 12 course is required, where students learn about different authors and how they impacted English writing, such as Shakespeare.
