What is the First Peoples Course About?

The First Peoples course focuses on learning about the First Peoples Principles, showing how they live and how their community works. The course also gives insight on how the First Peoples were mistreated by the government when they were colonized.

First Peoples 12

The First Peoples 12 course is an extension to learning from the previous English courses. It expands on the previously explored subjects in previous English courses. In previous grades, the First Peoples subject was introduced before, and the grade 12 course expands on these subjects, particularly on how they passed down tradition. Some methods they used was by reciting stories, playing pieces of music, and dancing. Other main topics of the First Peoples 12 subject include: resistance to BC colonialism, the impact of sharing history with non-Indigenous people, and the presence of media in the First Peoples community.
