Canadian Chemistry Contest

The Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC) is a contest for high school students. This contest runs in conjunction to the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO). The CCC is aimed at the top 10 percent of Canadian high schools and is for any student under the age of 20.

Avogadro's Exam

The Avogadro's exam is an exam conducted by the University of Waterloo. This exam focuses on grade 11 chemistry, and is accessible to anyone who completed their first high school chemistry course. This exam focuses on bonding, structures of matter, reactions, solutions, and gases. These questions are considered to be quite difficult and require sufficient understandings of the chemistry 11 course material. Students can practice for this exam by reviewing material or by doing past contests. The Avogadro's exam was created in 1988, and has since grown to a peak of 6900 people in a year. The 2025 Avogadro's exam saw nearly 5000 people compete from 439 schools.

Chemistry 13 News Exam by Waterloo

Chemistry 13 News Exam
The Chemistry 13 News Exam is a chemistry contest conducted by the University of Waterloo. This contest is intended for Grade 12 students who finished or are currently doing their second chemistry course in high school. This exam includes: organic chemistry topics, equalibria, kinetics, oxidation-reduction, reactions, solutions, bonding, structure, and gases. This exam may include some chemistry topics past high school knowledge. The best way to prepare for this exam is to review and learn more chemistry, and to try past contests. Students who do well on this exam are eligible to recieve a scholarship for a full first year undergrad degree for the Faculty of Science and will recieve recognition from the University of Waterloo. The Chemistry 13 News Exam was started in 1971, and had 1962 students participate in the 2025 exam from over 300 schools.
