Chemistry Teacher Interview with Ms. Chen

Teacher Interview with Ms. Chen
In the Chemistry Course, students will learn to predict products of chemical reactions. In the class, students will also learn to be safe by taking having a lab-safety unit, and they will learn to handle materials with caution and learn the locations of the first-aid kits and eye-washing stations. Also, I believe in a supportive environment and I encourage students to support each other and teach others about key concepts. If classroom disruptions and conflicts were to occur, I may need to talk to the students after class, but most students know what is right or wrong. I know that every student has a different method of learning, so I always try to explore different kinds of learning like discussion questions, review packages, and review quizzes to help with memory. For teaching and interacting with others, I always like to stay true to myself while also helping students when necessary. If contacting a parent is necessary, I always try to stay nice and friendly. Whenever I have a conflict with a student or collegue, I always try to respect their opinions with calmness and kindness, and I always try to compromise to make a solution that works for everybody. I also always try to do check-ins during class to make sure that everybody understands the concepts. If more help is needed, students can visit me at PLT and can email me about further questions. Partner work is also very important in my class, and self-guided projects are also necessary in my class to further understanding. I always loved chemistry the most out of the three core sciences, and the growth of students is always a highlight of my teaching.
